Genetic Reconstruction Test
A genetic reconstruction test is designed to establish whether a child is biologically related to its paternal relatives (those from the father’s side of the family). The test is performed when the father in question cannot be directly involved in the test and a direct father-child paternity test cannot be carried out.

A genetic reconstruction test is designed to establish whether a child is biologically related to its paternal relatives. The test is performed when the father in question cannot be directly involved in the test and a direct father-child paternity test cannot be carried out. The test starts from only $433 and results are available in 7 working days.
This test works by taking the DNA of the child and comparing this against that of at least three close blood relatives on the alleged father’s side of the family. Typically, for best results you should seek the DNA of a paternal brother, sister, mother, or father.
Important Note
If the mother of the child is available for the test, you will need the DNA of 2 other close relatives from the alleged father’s family. On the other hand, if the mother is not available you need to provide DNA samples from 3 of the alleged father’s close relatives. This test is extremely accurate if all samples from required participants can be collected.
DNA is different in everyone; however, with close relatives many similar genetic markers are present due to hereditary patterns. Once in the laboratory, the DNA will be analyzed in search of these shared genetic markers to determine whether or not the alleged father is the biological father of the child.
Other testing options
In cases where carrying out a genetic reconstruction test is not possible, as the relatives are not willing to be tested or unavailable for the test, we suggest you consider some of our other relationship testing options, such as sibling DNA testing and grandparents DNA testing. These options may not be as accurate as a genetic reconstruction test but can still provide very conclusive results, depending on the type of test you choose.
In relationship DNA tests, including the sample of a known parent (generally the mother) will help give you a more accurate result. For more information about our relationship testing, click here.

The Human Tissue Act
It is important to be aware that in the UK the Human Tissue Act regulates the collection and analysis of any human tissue. In order to send a sample for analysis, the person or donor of that sample must give their consent in writing in order for us to test their sample. Furthermore, in order to be fully compliant with the Human Tissue Act, the donor of the sample must also be made aware of how their DNA sample will be used. Failure to comply with the Human Tissue Act is a criminal offence.
We will not proceed with any testing if we do not have consent from all test participants. Testing any samples will be put on hold until we get the required signatures from all individuals.
